Real Colorado Welcome Brian Cvilikas
Welcome back Brian Cvilikas! Brian grew up in Highlands Ranch and played his youth soccer here in Colorado. His club team represented CO and Region IV in the USYSA National Championships. He was a member of the CO Olympic Development Program that earned a spot in the USYSA National ODP Championships. He attended school at Highlands Ranch High School and graduated in 2002. In his four years playing soccer for the school, the Falcons won a 5A State Championship and were 5A State Finalists. In his senior year, he was a state leader in goals and was recognized on the Colorado 5A All-State team.
“Real Colorado has always been a special part of my soccer memories. My neighborhood friends and I grew up riding our bikes to go kick around at Heritage Park. We used to race up and down the signature hill, in what we thought was a mountain trying to push our fitness levels and become better soccer players. Lorne use to kick around with us when he would see us out on the fields, showing off his skills. I particularly remember him showing us a rabona for the first time, hitting it off the crossbar from a distance and we were all star struck!”
BC went on to play collegiately at Old Dominion University. He led the Monarchs to four straight NCAA tournament appearances and two consecutive years with a national ranking of #2 in the country. He was an NSCAA All-American, Conference Player of the Year, 3x All-Conference player and recognized as College Soccer News’ National Player of the Week.
Following his senior season, he was drafted by the NY/NJ Metrostars. He went on to play professionally in the MLS, A-League, USL and NASL. In 2011, he helped lead the Minnesota Stars to win the Soccer Bowl, the national championship game for the North American Soccer League.
Brian started coaching and pursuing his coaching education while playing professionally. He has over twenty years of coaching experience and currently holds a US Soccer Federation National A License. He has also earned his USSF Educator License and is currently instructing the USSF B license being held this spring in Colorado. He enjoys learning and working with players, coaches, and people at all levels of the game. He is currently the Head Coach of the 2012B Colorado Select (ODP) team.
“My family was involved with the club during its early stages, from when it was DC Blast and then to Real. My mother volunteered as a team manager and my brother also played his youth soccer with the club. We also pursued our referee badges through the club as kids and helped ref club games. It is an honor and a privilege to be working with and giving back to one of my home clubs. The club has had tremendous development, growth, and success over the years. They have developed players, referees, and coaches to reach the highest levels of the game. I look forward to working with all the great people involved with the club and supporting the development and growth of the club in northern Colorado. I am hopeful to create similar memories for my son who is growing a love for soccer and is turning 3. My family and I now reside in Longmont and are excited to once again be a part of the Real Colorado family and a new Real Colorado era!”
